INTRODUCING OUR NEWSPAPER WRITER (Tariq Lawal/ Lagos State, NIGERIA) OF INSPIRE YOUTH JOURNAL

Inspire Youth Journal—a Global Platform for Youth Journalism—is the student-led monthly newspaper founded and developed by Inspire Youth Debate and Vietnam Public Forum Academy for youth in Vietnam and all over the world who wish to stay informed about the latest news and learn about current global issues. It helps young people become equipped with the necessary knowledge that would be helpful when debating.

After expanding to India, IYJ has successfully spread to many other countries such as United Kingdom, United States, Turkey, Nigeria, Ghana, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Qatar, Kenya, Pakistan, Brazil, Spain, Japan, France, Canada, Zimbabwe, etc with the participation of more than 40 high school and college students from various countries, all who have won prizes in one of the most prestigious essay writing competitions in the world.

On this occasion, IYJ would like to introduce Tariq Lawal/ Lagos State, Nigeria as our newest writer:

“Tariq is a writer, poet, multifaceted creative, multimedia journalist, artivist, changemaker, and budding social entrepreneur from Lagos, Nigeria. He passionately advocates for social, economic, environmental, racial, and gender justice. Tariq is a UNICEF Nigeria Young Influencer, a UNODC Nigeria Young Wildlife Influencer, and a 4Ocean Wavemaker. He is also a Global Citizen 2024 Emerging Creative and a Heal The Planet’s Young Planet Leader.

Recently, Tariq was shortlisted for the 2024 John Locke Essay Competition (Oxford and Princeton). In addition, he has won several local, national, and global creativity-related contests, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime #BeWildForNature Competition and the American Sociological Association Student Video Contest.

He serves as the Culture Lead Writer at Young Journalists of America and is the only African correspondent for FEMINIST, the global hub for intersectional feminism with an audience of more than six million people. Additionally, Tariq has worked with several nonprofits as a creative media creator.”
