Chimwekele Okoro is an advocate driven by an unyielding passion for
environmental preservation, immigration rights,
women’s empowerment, literacy, and education
equity. A storyteller at heart, she strives to amplify
voices often left unheard and explore complex
narratives that spark ideological change.


Her work has been celebrated in Carnegie Hall’s
chapbook on Afrofuturism, “Traveling the
Spaceways”, where she showcased her ability to
imagine bold futures shaped by resilience and
cultural heritage. She later served as the Youth Poet
Ambassador for her city, using the transformative
power of words to inspire her community.

In addition to her creative pursuits, Chimwekele is a
dedicated researcher at the Riversdale House
Museum. There, she uncovers and shares
overlooked stories, illuminating the lives of those
marginalized by history. This commitment to truth
and visibility drives all of her endeavors, whether in
advocacy, journalism, or education.

Chimwekele is also a Youth Council Member at Eco
Brothers, where she works to donate books to
schools within her community to foster children’s
literacy. With a deep commitment to activism and
intellectual growth, she fuses art, history, and
advocacy to inspire change and empower others to
believe in the possibility of a better world.
