INSPIRE YOUTH JOURNAL–a Global Platform for Youth Journalism–is a student-led monthly newspaper in Vietnam founded and developed by Vietnam Public Forum Academy and Inspire Youth Debate for youth in Vietnam and all over the world who wish to stay informed about the latest news and learn about current global issues.
Our newspaper is international, with 50+ writers from 30+ countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, Vietnam, India, Turkey, Taiwan, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Qatar, Brazil, South Korea, Kenya, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Spain, France, Japan, Canada, Peru, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, Indonesia, Tanzania, Poland, Ghana, Uganda, etc, many of whom have been shortlisted and awarded higher prizes for one of the most prestigious essay competitions, the John Locke Institute’s 2024 and 2023 Global Essay Prize, and other distinguished essay competitions.
We aim to help young people become equipped with necessary knowledge and learn more about the world with a variety of relevant topics each month.
On this occasion, IYJ would like to introduce Thien Nguyen/ Ph.D. (University of Houston), Da Nang, Vietnam as our newest writer:
“Thien Nguyen is a content writer focusing on scientific topics, especially those relating to chemical science. He has recently published two books in advanced organic chemistry on the Amazon platform, namely (1) “Advanced synthesis of atropselective biaryls/heterobiaryls and axially chiral tetrasubstituted allenes” and (2) “Overview Of Ketone a-Alkylation.”
He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Houston (USA) in 2017. He began his independent research career in Vietnam in 2018. He has singly authored several articles in the Journal of Molecular Structure, RSC Advances, Royal Society Open Science, Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry (OBC), and European Journal of Organic Chemistry (EJOC).
Besides, he has served as a referee for Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry dealing mainly with the structure elucidation of natural products and their biosyntheses since 2019. Thien Nguyen was recognized as an outstanding peer reviewer for Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry in 2020 and received Early Career Chemist Grant of Pacifichem in 2021. His research interests focusing on the main aspects of organic chemistry are (i) the isolation, the structure elucidation, and the synthesis of bioactive natural products for cancer treatment; (ii) the study of organic reaction mechanisms using computational methods; and (iii) the development of asymmetrically synthetic methods.”
