We aim to help young people become equipped with necessary knowledge and learn more about the world with a variety of relevant topics each month.

On this occasion, IYJ would like to introduce Ben Taylor/ a content creator and former ESL teacher, United Kingdom as our newest writer:

I’m a content creator, former ESL teacher, and lifelong adventurer who thrives on storytelling and pushing boundaries. Having lived in Southeast Asia since I was 13, and Vietnam for the last decade, I’ve immersed myself deeply in its culture, breaking through common stereotypes with real, lived experiences. Married to a local Vietnamese woman, I’ve gained a unique perspective on life here that most expats only scratch the surface of. I love bringing that insight to my writing, especially when it comes to cycling, lifestyle, and current affairs in the region.

When I was younger, my passion for exploring new ideas earned me a Blue Peter badge—not just once, but twice! I proudly received a blue badge and, later, a silver badge, which to this day symbolizes my curiosity and drive. A few years ago, I set myself the ambitious goal of walking 100,000 steps in a single day. It was a grueling challenge, but I completed it with determination—a testament to my perseverance.

Cycling has also become a huge part of my life. I’ve taken on long-distance rides, such as the 300 km Audax event, where I ranked 20th out of 200 cyclists—no small feat! My YouTube channel, where I share my cycling adventures, now has over 125 subscribers, and I’m growing my TikTok presence with nearly 1,000 followers. I also run an Instagram account that’s rapidly gaining attention.

As I transition out of teaching, my goal is clear: to pursue a career that blends my love for creative content, current events, and the stories that matter. After seven years of teaching, I’m ready to leave the classroom behind and dive into journalism, bringing my passion for writing, my global perspective, and my relentless curiosity to the forefront. I’m determined to inspire others with my words, whether it’s through my personal journey, cycling escapades, or insights into life in Southeast Asia,
said Ben Taylor.

IYJ is delighted to welcome Ben Taylor. Stay tuned for our upcoming articles!
