Inspire Youth Journal—a Global Platform for Youth Journalism—is the student-led monthly newspaper founded and developed by Inspire Youth Debate and Vietnam Public Forum Academy for youth in Vietnam and all over the world who wish to stay informed about the latest news and learn about current global issues. It helps young people become equipped with the necessary knowledge that would be helpful when debating.
After expanding to India, IYJ has successfully spread to many other countries such as United Kingdom, United States, Turkey, Nigeria, Ghana, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Qatar, Kenya, Pakistan, Brazil, Spain, Japan, France, Canada, Zimbabwe, etc with the participation of more than 40 high school and college students from various countries, all who have won prizes in one of the most prestigious essay writing competitions in the world.
On this occasion, IYJ would like to introduce Karisma Sarkar/ Sophomore, Monte Vista High School, San Francisco, United States as our newest writer:
“Karisma Sarkar is a student from the United States interested in economics, history, and law. She believes in the power of verbal communication in sharing one’s voice and hopes to help youth become more educated on current affairs. In her free time, you can find her reading, writing, or debating.”
Her major achievements:
• Shortlisted as a Finalist in the History category of the John Locke Institute’s Global Essay Competition (Oxford and Princeton)
• Awarded almost $20,000 worth of scholarships toward policy debate camps for being a finalist in the Western JV Novice Championship
• Received credential in Communications Using Writing from Brigham Young University
• Dean’s List student consistently throughout middle and high school
• California Certificate of Merit State Honors for Level 8 Piano Performance
