The People’s Accolade Law Magazine (www.thepalmagazine.com), known as The PALM, is one of Africa’s most credible and wide-reaching socio-legal media platforms, founded in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2013, with bases in Lagos and Nairobi, Kenya, and built on a single conviction: that legal knowledge should be freely accessible to all. Over more than a decade, it has grown into a multi-publication institution with an extensive readership across the African continent, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, and China. It is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria and holds an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN 2814-1784).
The PALM is led by qualified legal minds from multiple countries simultaneously. Its editorial board of up to fifty editors spans Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, and Botswana — covering West, East, Southern, and North Africa bound by a shared code of ethics. Its editors are practising lawyers and legal scholars of considerable individual distinction: multijurisdictional attorneys licensed across African, Canadian, and American jurisdictions; holders of LL.M. degrees from institutions including the University of Southern California; University of British
Colombia, Canada; Nottingham Trent University; Columbia University, New York; and the Geneva Academy; active doctoral researchers; and graduates who ranked first in their institutions or received best student awards upon qualification. Women hold the majority of senior editorial roles across all five publications.
It operates five distinct publications: The PALM (its flagship quarterly for legal professionals), The Millennial™ (weekly interviews with outstanding African lawyers under 40), The StarLight™ (a quarterly platform for law students), The PALM Articles™ (in-depth legal scholarship), and The PALM News™ (timely legal updates). Beyond its editorial work, The PALM has partnered institutionally with the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), South East Zone, through The StarLight™, a natural expression of its longstanding commitment to nurturing Africa’s next generation of legal thinkers. It has served as a media partner for the LexTalk World Global Hybrid Conference, a global legal summit connecting over 1,000 lawyers across physical and virtual platforms, and has been formally represented at Legally Yes’s Lawyers Hangout, Nigeria’s prominent professional legal networking event.
The PALM’s most recent institutional partnership is with Inspire Youth Journal (IYJ) — a global youth-led publication founded in Vietnam, comprising over 240 writers from more than 40 countries. Formalised in June 2026, this partnership brings together two organisations united by a shared mission: amplifying young voices on legal, social, and global issues, and building bridges between professional expertise and the next generation of informed global citizens. For The PALM’s community of lawyers, law students, and legal thinkers across Africa and the diaspora, IYJ offers a new and expansive audience and a new conversation. For IYJ’s global network of young writers, The PALM opens a window into the legal forces shaping Africa and the world.
