Fredrick Njoroge Kariuki

We are honored to announce Fredrick Njoroge Kariuki as an Honorary Ambassador of our INSPIRE YOUTH JOURNAL – A Global Platform for Youth Journalism!

“Hello! I’m Fredrick Njoroge Kariuki, a 17-year-old student from Kenya currently pursuing the IB Diploma Programme at MPESA Foundation Academy. I am passionate about climate innovation, public health, youth leadership, and using science and technology to solve real-world problems affecting African communities.

I am the co-founder of HewaSafi Initiative, a project focused on tackling urban air pollution through a low-cost hybrid exhaust purification and carbon capture system built using locally available African materials such as maize cobs, coconut shells, agricultural waste, and algae. Our system captures over 90% of harmful emissions while remaining affordable for everyday vehicle operators.

Recently, HewaSafi was named the Africa Regional Winner of The Earth Prize 2026. I have also been involved in initiatives and programs including the Harvard Computer Society AI Bootcamp, HundrED Youth Ambassador Program, START 3.0 by Triift Africa, Young Scientists Kenya, and the Summit STEM Fellowship.

Beyond competitions and programs, I care deeply about building practical African solutions that improve lives, particularly in environmental sustainability, clean air access, and youth-driven innovation,” said Fredrick.

Congratulations, Fredrick!
