Eniola Omogbai is a second-year honors student at Spelman College, majoring in Health Science on the MD-Ph.D. track.  Since her first year, Eniola has been actively involved in research, including a summer with the UCLA-HBCU Neuroscience Pathways Program, where she studied the effects of sex chromosomes on sleep response to stress.  Driven by her interest in black women’s maternal health and mortality in Africa and its diaspora, she is thrilled to engage in research that answers pressing questions concerning this issue in diverse ways, from neuroscience research to social policy engagement.  Eniola is also dedicated to social justice advocacy as she is a fellow of the Spelman College -Georgia Women’s Policy Institute and Millenium Fellowship.  Additionally, she co-founded Girls Work it Together, an organization with over 160 members that bridges the effects of gender inequality on education and promotes holistic growth in young girls and women in Nigeria.  As a Queens Commonwealth 2022 Silver Award recipient, when she’s not involved in research, she spends her time penning down her thoughts on the critical issues surrounding her.
