“Hello! I’m Huynh Le Hai, a 7th grader at Phan Van Tri Secondary School, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I would like to say thanks to the Inspire Youth Journal board for turning my profound insights into Central American conflict alive.
I found my interests in history when I was in 4th grade, and since then, I have learnt to feel impact within the enchanted battles and tests of time. I knew the Football War not from books though, but from Oversimplified, a partially-comedic YouTube history channel (which I watched over and over and did a lot of varied research on).
This inspired me to do an IYJ article on the war, but that wasn’t enough. With the current research and information I had, I extended the topic to reflect on the sociopolitical crisis within Central America, which was not much of a booming topic, but that was the whole point of my experience here – to shed light on the more lesser-known tears of the world map. From there, I learned the importance of sociopolitical voices in freedom-of-speech. While not as strong, they are the catalysts to changing a collapsing world like today.
I hope my article will serve as an another pill to heal the world; whether small or big, an impact works,” said Huynh.
