“Meet me, Choolwe Hamapande, a 19-year-old multifaceted young Zambian lady who is on a mission to make a difference and leave a mark in the world. Currently in my first year of studying medicine at Lusaka Apex Medical University, Lusaka, Zambia. I have been working with UNICEF Zambia as a digital mobilizer from 2023 till date. In 2023, I was honored to receive the Commonwealth Queen’s Essay Bronze award, which serves as a testament to my exceptional writing skills. As a writer and poet, I strive to make my readers and listeners be inspired by my captivating messages that touch on various aspects of society. My talents don’t end here, I am a fashion designer and language enthusiast. I am actively involved with a Zambian youth organization, Powering Young Initiatives. In addition, I am a dedicated climate change activist, I got a certificate under Climate Crisis: Addressing 5 Key Areas for Change from the Young African Leaders Initiative. Balancing my roles as a student, writer, poet, and designer clearly shows that I am a true definition of youth and resilience. I wish to be a part of the United Nations under organizations like UNICEF, WHO, and the UNFCC and be a part of the Commonwealth family. I also wish to achieve all my goals and inspire young girls and boys that dreams are possible if you work hard. There is no doubt that my journey will make a significant impact on my country Zambia and the world at large,” said Choolwe Hamapande.
