Ruhi Misra

Newspaper Writer

“Hello! My name is Ruhi Misra and I am a Year 13 Student from London, whilst simultaneously being a passionate environmental activist. My mantra is that I would like to be the voice of what cannot speak, and therefore I want to vocalise pressing issues in today’s society that have impacts on not only the environment and associated flora and fauna, but the marginalised communities who thrive within it there may be impacts on as a result, for example focus on the biogeography of climate change from a social, economic and environmental standpoint to give a more rounded and holistic view of the present.

Achievements-wise, I am a triple scholar (including academic) at Northwood College For Girls GDST, as well Geography prefect and also founder of the ‘GEOGSQUAD’ Magazine that illustrates Geography from an interdisciplinary standpoint, for example with an outlook into the Geography of Arts and Music. My enjoyment of the subject led me to further pursue a plethora of essay competitions, one of which was the Homerton College Essay Competition on ‘Building a Sustainable and Healthy World’ which I achieved first place in for my essay on the question: Person A: ‘Climate change is not real’ How would you convince person A to the contrary?.

In the same light, I hope being a writer for Inspire Youth Journal will help be a winner in life, but this time by accomplishing my own goal of being able to speak out for those who can’t whilst also being able to inspire those around me into environmental advocacy to help conserve and preserve the beautiful earth we live on,” said Ruhi Misra.
